Ultra Creamy Avocado Dip (5 Ingredients + 5 Minutes!)
Is there really anything better than a healthy dip?
I suppose there is, of course. But in the world of snacking, healthy dips are without doubt my guiltiest pleasure. When it comes to eating healthy and keeping my diet nice and balanced, my achilles heel has almost always been snacking. I’ll kick off my day with a killer breakfast, then stay strong with a nice lean lunch. But sometime around 4:00pm it all starts to fall apart. A handful of pretzels here, a few Goldfish there, and all of a sudden I’m half-way through a box Wheat Thins and a block of cheddar cheese.
It’s a slippery slope.
So managing my carb cravings has become a necessity, and I’ve found that healthy dips are one of the easiest ways to appease them.
The thought process for this particular dip was fairly simple – I wanted guacamole, but was in no mood for the effort. All that slicing, dicing, splicing? It’s a lot. Plus, guac stays green for what, 15 seconds? It’s the sort of thing you really have to commit to, and on your average afternoon I’m not trying to commit to much of anything.
So I took two just-ripe avo’s and threw them into my food processor, then added in tahini, greek yogurt, garlic, and lemon juice. A few minutes of blending and a pinch of salt later, I was gorging on one of the lightest, creamiest dips I’ve ever had, it was seriously delicious.
Recipes really don’t get more straightforward that this, so it’s totally something that should be in your rotation — 5 ingredients + 5 minutes? There’s nothing not to love. You can play around with some of the ingredients, like adding more lemon for stronger tang, or a little less tahini for bolder avocado flavor. But the one thing not to mess with is the greek yogurt. For whatever reason greek yogurt keeps this avo dip brilliantly green for DAYS, it’s like a damn miracle. There is clearly some sort of science behind this, but the important thing to know is that this will absolutely not go to waste. Confidently serve it at a brunch or lunch without worrying about it turning green, or make it for yourself on Monday and snack your way through the work week – It lasts for about 5 days in the fridge and holds its taste the entire time.
The carb monster in me loves dipping into this with something super salty like pita chips or pretzels, but healthier options like red peppers and carrots pair great as well. This is also oddly versatile – Sub it in wherever you would normally eat avocado, and watch the magic happen. I’ve smothered this on tacos, smeared it on slices of toast, and dolloped it into grain bowls overflowing with veggies – There’s no wrong way to eat it, and the possibilities are endless.
And hello – that texture!! How could you not want to dive in?

This sounds delish and VERY healthy! LOVE it! Protein packed too! Also love that the greek yogurt takes up a lot of mass in this since avocado is high in fat, good fat, but fat none the less.
thank sophia – it also keep this dip from turning that yucky brown color, which is an added bonus!
Looks great! I was going to ask how you keep it that color!
Using Greek Yogurt was a great idea, packed with protein and looks delicious!
thanks christina!

But, hey…I’m totally with you on the nap thang. When your body or brain needs it, you must cave. Sleep is good for your metabo, therefore it must be the second best thing to the gym. Right? Thanks for sharing!
